So let's say you found something really cool as you were going about your day…

Just open Spot It Up, and it will automatically focus in on your location, so you can place a Spot right where the action is happening! All you have to do is click/tap where you want the Spot to be.

To help other people find your Spot, add as many tags as you feel are necessary. Don't add hashtags at the start of your tags: you only need to separate them with commas (and spaces are okay to use in your tags as well).

To share something with a nearby friend quickly, you can even include tags in the Spot it Up URL, separated by a slash. Commas are also okay here.

Now, when somebody looks for Spots like yours in your area, what you posted will show up on their map!

“I wonder if there are any dragons in this region that need to be driven back by one of such exceptional valor as myself?”

“Oh….”

Spots don't last forever! As time goes on, Spots get pushed into broader and broader time filters:

  1. 1 hour
  2. 6 hours
  3. 12 hours
  4. 1 day
  5. 1 week

After a week, a Spot disappears.

You can filter how old you want the Spots to be when you search, using the settings menu.

It's also possible to make your own custom list of quicksearch buttons, to save yourself from having to type out your most common tags over and over again.

You can use commas in your quicksearch buttons.

You don't even have to create an account and log in to use the site: it's a part-privacy-part-plain-convenience sort of thing.

With so many accounts people have to keep track of these days, and all the concerns over harassment and snooping, it's easier to cut out the hassle and just give you the service right from the start.

And that's it! Have fun!
